Speaker Proposals

Is there a presenter or performer you always wanted to see, or someone that you know has an incredible story or skill to share? We want to hear from you!

We’re particularly interested in suggestions of speakers who haven’t spoken at our conference before or who would bring a new perspective to the stage.

Proposals for plenary presentations, panel discussions, training workshops, and entertainment for American Atheists’ 2025 National Convention in Minneapolis will be accepted through December 20, 2024.

Previous proposal topics for main-stage presentations and workshops include:

  • Activism and grassroots organizing

  • Public policy and advocacy

  • Building secular community

  • Personal experiences leaving religion

  • Science, technology, and education

  • Communications and marketing

  • Litigation and constitutional rights

Musicians, comedians, poets, artists, and other performers are also invited to submit proposals.

If you have a question about proposals, please email convention@atheists.org.

Additional Information

Speaker Compensation

To keep attendee registration costs low, we ask presenters to volunteer their time and expertise by waiving any speaker fees they traditionally charge.

In recognition of this contribution, American Atheists provides all speakers with free convention registration and complimentary admission to special meals and events. For main stage plenary speakers, we also cover the cost of hotel accommodations and domestic transportation.

Speaker Responsibilities

Accepted speakers are required to sign a written speaker agreement and to provide American Atheists with bios, headshots, and other promotional information. Our staff assists speakers with hotel and travel arrangements and will make every effort to accommodate requests for specific airlines, travel times, and other details.

American Atheists asks speakers to allow video recording of their presentations (unless specifically stated otherwise) and to provide presentation materials in advance in order to allow American Atheists to offer captioning, translation, and other services necessary for a more accessible convention.

We will provide presentation equipment including projection screens, microphones, easels with pads and markers, and similar equipment as requested.
