Call for SPEAKER Proposals
American Atheists is now accepting proposals for plenary presentations, panel discussions, training workshops, and entertainment for our 2020 National Convention in Phoenix, Arizona, April 9–12.
The deadline for submitting proposals is midnight on October 30, 2019.
Past topics for selected presentations include activism and organizing; politics, public policy, and advocacy; building community; personal experiences with leaving religion; science, technology, and education; communications and marketing; and litigation and constitutional rights.
Musicians, comedians, poets, artists, and other performers are also invited to submit proposals.
To keep attendee registration costs as low as possible, we ask presenters to volunteer their time and expertise by waiving any honorariums they traditionally charge.
In recognition of this contribution, American Atheists provides all speakers with free convention registration and complimentary admission to special meals and events. For main stage plenary speakers, we also cover the cost of hotel accommodations and domestic transportation.
Accepted speakers are required to sign a written speaker agreement and to provide American Atheists with bios, headshots, and other promotional information. Our staff assists speakers with hotel and travel arrangements and will make every effort to accommodate requests for specific airlines, travel times, and other details.
American Atheists asks speakers to allow video recording of their presentation (unless specifically stated otherwise) and to provide presentation materials in advance, in order to allow American Atheists to offer captioning, translation, and other accessibility services necessary for an inclusive convention.
We will provide presentation equipment like projection screens, microphones, easels with pads and markers, and similar equipment as requested.
